ADHD is a completely valid and unique way for the brain to function. In a world that often feels like it wasn't designed for our strengths, it's important to recognize that having ADHD doesn't mean you're lacking or broken. Think of it this way: ADHD brains are wired for creativity, spontaneity, and interest - these things are hardly failings! In fact, research is showing that early ADHDers likely served as foragers for their communities (how cool is that?!)
As a coach, I help you embrace these strengths and navigate a world that may not always cater to your unique way of thinking and being. With personalized strategies and support, you'll learn to harness your ADHD traits to thrive in your personal and professional life. Imagine unlocking your full potential and finding joy in your natural abilities – that's the power of ADHD coaching.

Therapy is analogous to caring for an open wound: it addresses emotional and psychological pain and helps facilitate healing. It's typically about understanding and processing your past to improve your present well-being.
Coaching, on the other hand, is about looking ahead. It focuses on your goals, aspirations, and the skills you need to thrive. Imagine having a partner who helps you understand yourself better, set meaningful life goals, and achieve them with confidence. It's ideal if you're ready to move forward and make the most of your potential.
For those who are in therapy for these deeper emotional struggles, coaching can be a fantastic complement to your therapy work. With your permission, I can even collaborate with you and your therapist to ensure you receive the best support possible on your journey.

ADHD coaching targets the unique challenges of individuals with ADHD, addressing both obvious symptoms like inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity, as well as "soft signs" such as difficulty with time management and low self-esteem. It involves developing tailored routines, improving organizational skills, and building self-compassion to help clients navigate daily tasks effectively. In contrast, life coaching focuses on broader personal development and goal-setting across various aspects of life, including career and relationships. While life coaching aims to help individuals achieve fulfillment, it lacks the specialized strategies and support that ADHD coaching provides for managing ADHD-specific challenges.

Not at all! Whether you have a formal ADHD diagnosis or simply resonate with the challenges related to executive functioning, I'm here to support you, and the approaches I use will help you in either case. My coaching is designed to help anyone who struggles with focus, organization, and productivity, regardless of a formal diagnosis.
If you do have an ADHD diagnosis and can share neuropsychological testing results, I am well-versed in interpreting them, which can enhance our work together. However, a diagnosis is not a prerequisite for coaching. If it seems beneficial, I might suggest considering testing to gain additional insights, but it’s entirely your choice and not a requirement to work with me. My goal is to help you achieve your full potential, diagnosis or not.

The CHADD (Children and Adults with ADHD) website has a fantastic, in-depth guide to understanding how to get an ADHD diagnosis.
Please note, though, that the process can vary somewhat depending on the accessibility/availability of local services, and can vary considerably in other countries.
As such, I am always happy to help clients navigate the process and advocate for themselves to ensure their needs are met. Schedule a Discovery Call to connect to see if we are a good fit!
Choosing & Working with an ADHD Coach
-
Choosing the right ADHD coach is crucial, especially with so many options available and the lack of regulation of the field. Here’s what you should look for:
Professional and Lived Experience: Seek a coach who not only understands ADHD from a personal perspective but also has professional training. For example, I have ADHD, which was diagnosed in adulthood, an advanced degree in mental health, and over 20 years of counseling and coaching experience. This blend of personal insight and professional expertise ensures that you get effective, evidence-based support.
Strengths-Based Approach: Find a coach who views ADHD as a unique trait, not something that needs to be "cured." A good coach will empower you to leverage your ADHD as an asset. My approach focuses on building on your strengths and helping you navigate the world in a way that works for you, making the journey exciting and empowering.
Distinctive Expertise: Look for a coach who understands the emotional challenges of ADHD, such as struggles with self-compassion. I have trained extensively with Dr. Kristin Neff, a leading expert on self-compassion, and these principles are foundational to my coaching to help you treat yourself with the kindness and understanding you would a friend.
Certifications: Ensure your coach has reputable training and certifications. For instance, I’m currently training with the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA), a top program in the field, and am on track to be certified soon. This guarantees a high standard of practice.
Fit: Choose someone you connect with and who truly understands your struggles. The right coach should show empathy and be a supportive partner on your journey.
Ethics: Verify that your coach adheres to ethical guidelines. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and ADHD coach, I follow the ethical standards of both the NASW and the International Coaching Federation (ICF), ensuring you receive professional and ethical care.
Selecting the right coach can make a significant difference in your journey with ADHD, so take your time to find the best fit for your needs.

Here’s the revised version incorporating your request:
Yes, I am both a therapist and an ADHD coach, and I take the distinction between these roles very seriously. My experience as a licensed clinical social worker has deeply informed my expertise on ADHD, allowing me to hone my understanding of clients from all walks of life over the years. This background enriches my coaching practice, giving me valuable insights into the diverse challenges my clients face.
However, when I am coaching, I adhere strictly to the ICF (International Coaching Federation) code of ethics and do not act as a social worker or therapist. I maintain separate business practices for each role, ensuring a clear and focused approach in my coaching services.
It’s important to note that I do not wear both hats with the same client—my commitment to ethical boundaries means I do not provide therapy and coaching services to the same individual. For more details on the differences between coaching and therapy, please refer to the FAQ.
Given my commitment to maintaining ethical boundaries, I do not provide both therapy and coaching services (including group coaching) to the same client at any point. This approach is in line with the NASW guidelines on dual relationships, which emphasize the importance of avoiding potential conflicts of interest to ensure the best support for your needs.
Therapy focuses on emotional issues and mental health, while coaching helps achieve specific goals related to managing ADHD.
Because I am skilled in both areas, I can determine when to refer a client to therapy or coaching.
Sessions Details & Logistics
-
The timeline for seeing results varies for each individual, but many clients start to notice positive changes within the first few sessions. We’ll work together to set realistic goals and develop strategies that align with your unique strengths and needs. Consistent progress checks and adjustments ensure you’re on the right track. Typically, clients feel more focused and empowered as they start applying new skills in their daily lives within a few weeks.
-
The commitment level depends on your personal goals and needs. Most clients find that starting with a package of 4 to 8 sessions provides a good foundation. Sessions can be weekly or bi-weekly, allowing time to practice new strategies between meetings. For those seeking long-term support, 12-session packages are available. The flexibility of my coaching allows us to tailor the frequency and duration to fit your schedule and lifestyle.
-
I encourage clients to start with a commitment to a 3-month package. This initial period allows us to build a strong foundation and start seeing some progress. However, for lasting change, clients should plan to work with me for a minimum of 6 months. This timeframe gives us the opportunity to address deeper challenges and reinforce new habits.
As we progress, clients can taper down the frequency of sessions according to their needs to maintain their progress.
Coaching Commitment & Expectations
-
I understand that investing in coaching is a significant decision, and I deeply value your time and commitment. While many coaches wait until the Discovery Session to quote their prices, I opt to make my rates transparent and detailed on my website. I offer pay as you-go-sessions at a base rate, but also allow you to pay for more sessions up-front at a reduced rate to save you money over the course of coaching.
In addition, I provide sliding scale fees to make my services more accessible, depending on availability. This ensures that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from ADHD coaching, regardless of their financial situation. If you have any questions or need more information about pricing, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help you find the best option that suits your needs and budget.
-
Where are you based, and how do you meet with clients?
I'm physically located in Pittsburgh, PA, in the Eastern Time Zone. I meet with clients via video conferencing, so I can connect with anyone, anywhere! If you're in a different time zone, just keep in mind the time difference when scheduling sessions. For those who value an ADHD coach who is highly knowledgeable about local resources, I have extensive experience with resources and supports available in the Pittsburgh area. Additionally, I've worked at several local universities and am exceptionally adept at helping students navigate them.
-
When clients first start, I work with them in full sessions of 55 minutes. As our work together progresses, if we decide together that it makes sense and will benefit the client, we can do 25 minute (half) sessions. In both cases I allow a 5 minute buffer for both the client and myself to be able to transition smoothly to other commitments.
-
All of my sessions are conducted virtually; this eliminate the need to account in my fees for travel time or mileage to meet with you.
Additional Support & Services
-
I'm always happy to answer quick questions or to celebrate your successes between sessions! For questions or concerns that take longer, I may ask you to schedule an additional, interim session for support.
